Apple and Blackberry Crumble

A simple, but delicious, dessert made with apples and blackberries and a sweet crumble topping.

Ingredients
  

For the filling
  • 200 grams blackberries
  • 4 apples cored and cut into small chunks
  • 75 grams brown sugar
For the topping
  • 85 grams chilled butter
  • 140 grams self raising flour
  • 75 grams caster sugar

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
  2. Put the blackberries, apple pieces and brown sugar into a saucepan. Put over a low heat and cook gently until soft. Remove from the heat and transfer to an ovenproof dish.
  3. Put the butter and flour into a bowl and rub together between your fingertips until they resemble breadcrumbs. Tip in the caster sugar and stir with a wooden spoon until evenly distributed.
  4. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit filling. Put in the oven and cook for 30 minutes, or until bubbling and golden brown.
